With more than 21,500 square feet dedicated to photography, the Italian Photography Gallery CAMERA project in Turin (North West of Italy) is one of the biggest photography galleries in the world, including exhibition space, observatory on international photography, platform for meeting and research.
The CAMERA Italian Photography Gallery project is rooted in the desire to provide Italy with a specialised centre dedicated to photography as a form of language, documentation and artistic expression, with the aim of valorising and promoting Italian photography in a permanent and creative dialogue with international experiences.
CAMERA promotes an international network of both individuals and institutions, whose collaboration is aimed at developing new projects, bringing the experience and the multiple potential of photography to a broad and heterogeneous audience.
The headquarters – 21,500 SF – 2,000 m2 – are to be found in inside a building where the first public school in the Kingdom of Italy was opened, in the heart of the historical city of Turin, a stone’s throw away from the Mole Antonelliana. The historical spaces transformed by the white of the plasterboard are a response to the needs put forward by CAMERA.
