Piers Morgan Donald Trump interview: What to expect from the US President in ITV sit-down

Donald Trump interview by Piers Morgan is the first official interview granted by the President. It has been recorded on board the Air Force One plane during the UK visit. It is in fact the first time Donald Trump has given his first international TV interview since becoming President of the United States.

The 71-year-old sat down with Good Morning Britain presenter Piers Morgan at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, on Thursday and extracts from the interview can be found through different websites.

Mr Trump knows Piers from their time together on the US version of The Celebrity Apprentice in 2008.

Piers made it to the final, and eventually won, with Trump telling him:

“Piers, you were tactless, ruthless, aggressive, hard, possibly brilliant, you knocked them all out one by one – you win.”

So perhaps it isn’t surprising that Piers is the man to secure the President’s first big overseas interview.

The interview broadcasted Sunday, January 28 on ITV.

Donald Trump says he would have negotiated Brexit with a “different” and “tougher” attitude to Theresa May.

The US president said the European Union was:

“not cracked up to what it’s supposed to be”

and claimed he was unsurprised by the result of the Brexit referendum because Britons:

“don’t want people coming from all over the world into Britain”.

The comments could be seized on by Brexiteers to urge the Prime Minister to be harder in Brexit talks, but Remainers could attack Leavers for sharing views with the controversial and divisive president. They could also be seen as a blow for Mrs May following her largely successful meeting with Mr Trump in Davos, Switzerland, on Thursday.
