The Bi Happy campaign organized by the 2016 international temporary coordination of bisexual associations, relied on the slogan “Bi Happy” inspired by the binomial “acceptance = happiness”.

The 23 September of each year since 1999 is an opportunity to raise awareness between the international community regarding the rights of non-binary (bisexual, transgender, intersex, LGBTQ) people.

The spontaneous Committee of LGBTQ associations, groups of various European nations, has created a very important information campaign for awareness and acceptance of bisexuality contributing to the breaking down of barriers and prejudices in general.
Amongst the initiatives in the various nations, an information campaign, whose BI HAPPY concept is inspired by the combination of “acceptance = happiness”. This campaign , want to show that bisexuality, if lived with freedom, is a condition of happiness.

“Serenity, happiness, freedom, bisexuality and visibility” became therefore the key words of the “Bi Day”, the world day of bisexuality.

The event is also known as Bi Visibility Day, bisexuality day, Bi Pride Day. It is celebrated internationally on September 23rd each year since 1999.

The aim is the serene and happy acceptance of anyone’s own sexuality.

Self-Acceptance can be the first step to allow acceptance by others, put an end to discrimination, and counterpart bi-phobia (phobia against bisexuals). In fact there are too many bisexual people, discriminated against, in society and even by some homosexual people who do not accept the cocnept of a “fluid” sexuality.
Nevertheless Bisexuality is a common way of being between humans, known and accepted since antiquity.

The famous photographer Alberto Still signs the new international campaign “BI HAPPY”.
The author of the shots that illustrate the concept of the Bi Day, is Alberto Still, the famous photographer who divides his business between Italy and the United Kingdom.

The happiness concept present smiling bi happy people, unafraid of their bodies, close together, embraced.

The campaign starts from Friday 23/9, world day of bisexuality, to last a year until 23/9/2017. It is divided into two main subjects, where the “Happiness” is portrayed in the smiles and laughter of two girls who are happy to be close and embraced, against the Bi-phobia.

Grace Williams and Sophie Brown, Head of Press Communication of the 2016 coordination of international bisexual associations explain:

“We asked Master Alberto Still, to interpret the happiness of the acceptance of Bisexuality, to further enhance the positive effects of the visibility and the serenity of the “self” acceptance, already recognized both by psychology and biology, and for millennia, also from sociology.

The images photographed with a reference to the pink-blue nuances of the flag of bisexuality combined with the sympathy approach of Alberto Still, which recognizes in people the intrinsic right to happiness, marries the DNA of self-acceptance and serenity that establishes the entire campaign 2016″

The photographer Alberto Still clearly explains:

“Energy is the backbone of this campaign”. “Laughter and color mutually reinforce each other in an explosion of happiness”. “Being able to provide the associations with the visual impact material for such an ambitious project”.
